General Information about Colonial Williamsburg

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation preserves, restores, and operates more than 500 buildings, two world-class art museums, six hotel properties, modern and historic restaurants, retail stores, the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, the Spa of Colonial Williamsburg, gardens, and an extensive educational outreach program. Philanthropic support as well as revenue from admissions, products, and hospitality sustain these initiatives.



Colonial Williamsburg is located in Williamsburg, Virginia and is part of Virginia's Historic Triangle, which consists of Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Learn more about getting here.

Hours of Operation

Colonial Williamsburg is open 365 days a year. Most sites are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and evening programs run well into the night. The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Restaurant and store hours vary.


Admission tickets are required to enter buildings and see programming in the Historic Area. Learn more about our variety of ticketing options.  


Parking is recommended at the Visitor Center, which is free. The City of Williamsburg operates a pay-by-the-hour parking garage as well as other timed parking lots.

Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttles run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for ticketed guests. Shuttle routes begin at the Visitor Center and run throughout the Historic Area. Stops include the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, the Taverns, Market House, the Williamsburg Lodge, the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, and Merchants Square. Express shuttle routes are also available from the Visitor Center to Market House.

Guest Services

Tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center, the Merchants Square Ticket Office, the Lumber House Ticket Office, and the William Pitt Shop. Ticketing agents can answer any questions you may have. Agents are also available via phone by calling (877) 392-3786 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Personal Transportation

Strollers, wheelchairs, scooters, and bicycles are all welcome in the Historic Area and the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Sidewalks and streets may be rough in some areas. Some sites may not be completely accessible. Learn more about accessibility.
